Women in Horror – Shared Pages: Carol J. La Valley

February 5, 2015 at 4:04 am (horror, writing) (, , , , , )

caroljlvI chose this female horror writer for my spotlight because editor, Eve Paludan, indicated she had created the ”Vampires, Zombies and Ghosts, Oh My!” anthology around Carol’s short story “The Bone Flute Maker.” It was my favourite story in the anthology – a haunting, soulful tale that was both disturbing and moving at the same time. Another example of her darker fare is her short story “Silent Creek,” which placed second for short fiction with the National Federation of Press Women in 2010.

In addition to being a woman in horror, she is also an award winning journalist and a professional biographer. As she puts it, she’s a wearer of many hats, some of them scarier than others.
